Jazbaa Movie Review: Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan

Cast: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni, Siddhanth Kapoor.

Director: Sanjay Gupta

Review: Jazbaa is a story of lawyer-cum-single mother Anuradha Varma (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) who has to fight a case of guilty criminal Miyaz (Chandan Roy Sanyal) to save him and rescue her daughter Sanaaya (Sara Arjun) from Kidnappers. In this fight to save her daughter she takes help from her friend Inspector Yohan (Irrfan Khan) who is infamous for being blunt and going under trail for corruption. The story has few suspense moments that will keep you on edge of seat but too many over dramatic scenes and slo-mo acts to bore you.

Story of Jazbaa is definitely a plus point. In original script it was kept tight and has much better impact than this Bollywood version. One line dialogues of Irrfan are surely entertaining and court scenes where Aishwarya and Shabana Azmi’s character has word battle settles the show. The second half of movie picks up the speed and gives you some surprises and shocks as well.

Performance wise Irrfan Khan stood out as the best. He has shown what he is capable of over the time and now we expect nothing less from him. The song “Jaane tere Shehar” shows what he can do in romance. Shabana Azmi does full justice to her role and gives quite an impression. But the movie belongs to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She has superbly executed her role and did full justice. You won’t be disappointed if you are going for her.

Sanjay Gupta did an average work here. Known for his signature action films and typical tone of films, this film has nothing new to give. This won’t be considered as his best work but not even his worst. The music of movie is average and you don’t have to skip it every time a song comes in screenplay.

One must watch it for Aishwarya and Irrfan Khan.
